Nourishing the writer

We are just back from our writer's residency in Bali where eight people hunkered down on their writing projects.  Morning workshops and early evening readings offered valuable guidance, feedback and support leaving the rest of the day to write.

It is always wonderful to have the input and camaraderie of fellow writers and you can save a lot of time discussing various challenges you may be facing in your writing craft and writing process.

It's lovely too being looked after while you write. Not having to worry about cooking, cleaning and the daily chores. Your one chore being — to write.

On our Bali Residency our cook Nyoman and her team know how to nourish our writng process with their wonderful cooking.  See some of their art below.

Breakfast: black rice pancakes and tropical fruit salad

Morning tea after our morning workshop. Sweets of the pasar (market).

Lunch: fresh salads

and my favourite soto ayam (chicken soup)!

the makings for soto to add...

Saté, saté, made with fish and coconut

Not to forget homemade pasta!!
