Temple Writing in Burma

In early February 2013 ten intrepid writers set off for a writing reatreat in Myanmar.

First stop the inaugural Irrawaddy Literary Festival - Festival patron - Daw Aung San Suu Kyi.

other festival guests:

Pascal  Khoo Twe, author of the best selling Burma memoir:  From The Land Of Green Ghosts.

The incredible Jung Chang, author of the best selling Wild Swans.

A fascinating session On Contemporary Burmese poetry with (from left) poets: Pandora, James Byrne,Nyein Way, Zeyar Lyn.

Burmese poets read in the sunset poetry reading in the boathouse. I collaborated in song with poet Nyein Way on his poem, Smile of A Leaf.

We began our workshopping lakeside during the festival..

in between trips to Shwedagon, Burma's living temple..
